I was calling different shops to compare hourly rates for some A/C work I needed done on my van.

I called this shop. I asked for their hourly rate. The gentleman who answered, immediately sounded defensive and in a nasty voice said "why do you want to know that!?(hourly rate)" I told him I was pricing out different shops. He said his hourly rate was only for his customers. He then essentially said I had to bring my vehicle in for him to tell me his hourly rate. What a joke. Am I not allowed to price out different shops to try and get the best deal? I proceeded to call other shops and they had no problems with giving me their hourly rate. Anyhow, I just don't see what the big deal with this guy was. Not going there.
