Great steaks and service. The atmosphere is wonderful and romantic and a great place to have brought my wife for dinner.

We were visting KC with some friends and staying at the marriott downtown, they told us about 801 chophouse when we asked for a good steakhouse for dinner... It was very nice n clean everyone was friendly BUT food sucked. All our steaks were ordered med-well none came out right they were so burnt we didnt eat one of them, wouldnt even feed them to a homeless man! I could not believe the quality of the food that came out to us, expecialy for the price. We will never go there again.

Its really about time Kansas City got a new steakhouse downtown that was NOT a chain! I am so sick of Capitol Grill and Mortons!



I have eaten at the 801 in Des Moines a few time while on business and was pleasently suprised when I saw them open in KC.



The inside of the restaurant is amazing! The detail given to everything from the sinks in the bathroom to the huge wine case in the bar really speaks for itself. The service was professional and attentive. I was totally blown away at how fast they cleared our dinner plates for our party of 12... a class act!



We ate the lobster corn dogs, the prime rib and a 16oz KC strip with "oscar" on it. We haven not had such wonderfully prepared food in some time. We asked to speak with the Chef, who was suprisingly younger than we had imagined. Although he wouldnt divulge the exact recipe for the corn dogs, he did give us some tips for cooking prime rib at home.



I cant wait to go back, some collegues and I will be meeting there for drinks and appetizers often.

The food, while being a bit pricey, is awesome! The chef should be commended! The prime rib is superb. Service is very good and attentive to your needs.
