I was billed for a procedure that the insurance called UNNECESSARY and NON BILLABLE. I wrote them two paged letter and they still insisted that I pay for the unnecessary X-ray procedure. I had a three way phone talk with them and the insurance company and they acknowledge that I was not supposed to be billed and promised to send me a bill of zero balance which can take up to SIX MONTHS. They are still sending me bill and I've been told by the same office to ignore the bill. I know it will go to collection and then credit bureau. Today I'm filing a formal complaint with the insurance fraud department and the Better Business Bureau. It is not the amount of money involve, it is the principle and the fact several thousands of people may have fallen victims of this illegality. The insurance stated that they have been paid in full and contractual agreement does not allow then to bill patient again. Who knows how many people out there that have been slammed with this type of bill for an out- of-pocket payment. Some day someone may request that they refund those money for non billable procedures.
