The Louisiana Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health is an advocacy organization for families of children and youth with mental health needs. Located in Baton Rouge, La., it is a parent-operated organization that focuses on the needs of children and youth with emotional, behavioral and mental disorders and their families. The federation works to empower parents to deal with the day-to-day problems of caring for a child with emotional, behavioral and mental disorders. In addition, the Louisiana Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health works with parents and others to become active advocates to improve mental health care for children. It promotes family involvement on decision making committees and forums that develop and monitor policy, planning and service delivery for children at various levels of government local, regional, state, legislative, executive and judicial branches.
