I have a 3yr old son who started seeing Dr. Florini when he was about a year old. We had used another Dr. previously but were looking for someone closer to us. At first, I was exceptionally pleased with Dr. Florini and her office (other than the fact that our son was ill at the time and we were told that it would be a minimum of 1 month to get a new patient appointment).



Over time we have had some experiences that are less than positive. She has an amazing demeanor with children, asks if you have questions or concerns at every visit and takes the time to answer them. However, her office staff is not very friendly and some office policies are unbelievable.



I feel like it's an outgrowth of the more modern idea that everyone who provides a service is superior to the people receiving it. You must make well-child appointments at least a month in advance as well as new patients being required to wait at least a month before being given an appointment. Recently, we discovered that you are not allowed to make a future appointment for someone who is sick. You must call the same day and hope they can fit you in. We called on Friday for my son who has been sick on and off for almost a month and for a flu shot. We tried to make an appt. for Monday since I knew I was off of work and would be able to take him anytime but were told we would have to try again Monday. I called Monday and was met with nearly 6 minutes of waiting on hold only to be told that the Dr. was out for the day. Finally, after complaining a second time about what we were told Friday and explaining again that Monday was the only day I had off this week, the woman offered to see if the nurse could see him and said she would call back. 20 minutes later I still had not heard back.



I think this office could use a serious customer service overhaul with a good reminder that patients are the reason they even have jobs and a critical look at office policies.



In short, if you have a wide open schedule and are willing to make appointments for your child either on the fly or far, far in advance you might give it a try. Otherwise, keep shopping!
