I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte School of Social Work in 2015 with a Masters degree in Social Work. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2014 from UNC Charlotte as well, in addition to an Associate degree in Arts from Central Piedmont Community College in 2011 with a focus on human services. I am an alumnus of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and Council on Social Work Education’s Minority Fellowship Program-Youth which provided training on emerging, evidenced based practices in the clinical treatment of children, adolescents, and transition aged youth with behavioral health concerns, the population for which I am passionate. I am a NC Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (P009652) credentialed with Cardinal Innovations, Blue Cross Blue Shield and North Carolina Health Choice. I have nonprofit experience from interning and volunteering with Communities in Schools where I served children at risk for dropping out and their families. I also completed a clinical internship with Mecklenburg County working with children and families who have experienced domestic violence. I use person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and utilize elements of expressive art therapy, motivational interviewing and play therapy with my clients. Additional experience includes college preparation, job training, mentoring, and volunteer coordination. I have interest in research, specifically anxiety, attachment and depression in youth and young adults. I am interested in the non-profit sector as well. I am currently researching information for best practices for treating reactive attachment disorder and childhood trauma. I hope to pursue my doctorate degree in the next 5-10 years.
