Just Be Very Careful and On Top of Your Game

This attorney worked with us for 2 years and he does not have one employee that was there in the beginning in fact, he has been through about 8 people that we have seen and several others we talked to on the phone but never saw them in person. A definite swinging door. They will not know who you are and he will not be familiar with your case unfortunately because he has no continued committed help. Be sure you are ready to stay on top of your case if you retain him. You will have to remind him, call him, fax him, go there unexpected even to get his attention and then it will go unattended to at times. Be careful when you initially sign up with him for a commission such as on a work comp case where you sign over 20% before you realize how much of the work he does and how much you do. We did a ton of the work and had extinuating circumstances. He was very quick throughout to praise all the help we were, all the time and headaches we were saving him and how he wished he had other clients that were on top of it and had everything in place like we did. He even spoke several times of offering a job to my spouse because of all the work he was saved from having to do. The fact came out that he was afraid he could not afford the efficiency so it never came to frution although he spoke of it several times. In the end, he never negotiated even a couple percent of his commission for all of that work. So if you retain him, LET HIM DO THE WORK. He will NOT compensate you or appreciate you in the end when he gets his thousands for doing maybe 60-70% of what he would normally need to do. And be guaranteed you will have many frustrating times throughout your case with him. His office is often times very non professional as well. You will find him very casual even at times unprofessional as he might wear stained, torn golf shirts and sock feet and his staff very easily will be barefooted. ALSO - NEVER expect that you will be at a scheduled appointment in which he will be ready for you without at least a 15 minute wait (noone else in the office with him that could be holding him up) and also be assured that he will not be prepared with information from a previous appointment at your next appointment. He is overall a major frustration. It might have been ok if he would have said in the end (fair to all) I will give you 5% commission because you really did put a lot into this case that saved me a lot of legwork and headaches and time. We began with him and he knew that we audio taped sessions and it is disenheartening when you listen back to those and the things that he had been told, knew about but did not have the information correct to go forward. We are quite dipleased with the entire situation. He made commitments several times to contact certain doctors to discuss or schedule things and those never happened. We would take the names and telephone numbers and best times to call to him in writing and he still did not set those meetings up or follow up. If we had not been in such a complicated case, we would have terminated our relationship with him when one of his paralegals while employed there said to us that we should find someone more competent and dependable. Sad situation when you are in a compromising circumstance and in need of the legal representation and you get in the middle of something of this situation. The final straw was when he never even offered or admitted during the last month or so the help and work we had contributed because he wanted his 20% in full. We honestly feel that we were used as he made us believe that in the end the work we were contributing would be beneficial to us (how other than for him to surrender a bit of the commission to compensate for the time he did not have to spend). BE CAREFUL and BE ON TOP OF YOUR G...
