The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority is a quasi-public agency that develops and implements environmentally sound solutions for solid waste disposal and recycling management on behalf of municipalities. It serves more than 120 Connecticut cities and towns and maintains a presence in Hartford, Conn. The agency also offers environmental and recycling educational programs. Established in 1973, the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority receives and processes more than 500 tons of containers and paper a day. Its trash-to-energy plants produce electricity for over 170,000 homes. The agency s educational centers offer information on waste management and recycling processes to nearly 40,000 visitors per year. The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority additionally contracts with a variety of companies to provide environmental, engineering and other services.
