I have 3 children who just love this place. We have been members for 10 years. They have done a lot of updates in the last couple of years. I just had to write a review when I saw some of the negative reviews. It is sad to see how one person can have so many people jump on their band wagon and write negative reviews about a place that obviously have never been there.

The Hands On is a not-for-profit that works with the funds they receive. In our visits we have seen exhibits updated and some changed out to better exhibits. They just added a light table that you can build cars or magnetic buildings. My kids love it. The lights make building so much more fun.

I have seen reviews saying the customer service is bad. I have always been welcome coming in and told to have a nice day when I leave. After 10 years of visiting I think if there was bad customer service I would have experienced it.

I have also seen reviews about how dirty the place is. Every time we have been in there is ALWAYS someone walking around and picking up toys that are out of place. Yes they have a LOT of toys for the kids to play with. YES they do get on the floor, but it's the kids who throw them there. But for dirt--- They have volunteers, other than just their employees, who come in just to clean. I have never seen dirt. And to say that the toys are old and outdated. Give me a break! Kids, and I mean lots of kids, visit the museum and they PLAY with the toys and other items, But old and worn out- No! They are always changing out items.

I started bringing my 1 year old here and now she is 11. Her brothers, 5 and 8, love the place.

I just hate to see the reviews that are so negative. So please go for yourself and see how much FUN your kids will have. I guarantee they will and you will to.

My family and I visited the Hands On Childrens Museum a few years ago and found it dirty, and the staff inattentive. After finding out about their discrimination against an LGBT family, we wouldn't visit again if our lives depended on it. Yes, according to Florida laws they (regrettably) have the right to discriminate against LGBT persons. I, as a consumer, have the right to show my disgust with their policies by not only taking my business elsewhere, but encouraging others to do the same. Homophobia is hate. Pure and simple. Take your hate elsewhere.

I agree the concept is excelle...

I agree the concept is excellent. There is a great variety of things to do from dressingup & acting on a stage, wheelchair basketball, post office, vetrenarian's office & more. Unfortunately the play food, dress up clothes, & stuffed animals were very dirty. We observed workers vacuuming but it didn't smell especially clean. As much as we enjoyed it, I am hesitant to return there. The staff , other than the girl @ the entrance were not especially friendly. The building is a bit run down looking from the outside but that is not a big priority, but the inside cleanliness is.

Great Place

I have to agree this is a GREAT PLACE to take your kids. Lots of fun educational things to do. Would be much nicer if it was in a newer building though. However that would not stop me from taking my kids AGAIN. Great place to have FUN with your kids!
