My Auntie, Pearl Henderson was a member at the church for 71 years until she passed away in 2013. It's a lovely church with very kind and welcoming members. I have had the pleasure of visiting the church on several occasions while Auntie was alive. Our family is still torn by what happened to her in her final years. My family has been at this church for over 50 years. It is truly a blessed church. Rev. Ricky Bragg is a God fearing leader who will tell you that if it's not in the Bible he is not going to tell a lie. And don't get me started on the choir, Sis. Alicia Saunders is one of the best choir directors in Kansas City. They have the great Issac Cates and Odell Talley on the piano and organ. The drummer Chris is also a great drummer. At 8th street Baptist you can go and get your praise on until your soul is full. I do love me some 8th street. I have been to other churches but as Dorthy would say, There is no place like home! So if you are looking for a great church home to feel welcome and loved along with the spirit of God you have found the place and as we say "Your only a stranger once"
