Got a massage and facial for the first time. The massage was amazing The person that did my facial made me feel horrible about my skin and talked the entire time. At the end before I paid I felt extremely pressured to buy the membership. When I persistently declined I was asked what they could do to get me to join and if I cared about my health, which was insulting. I just wanted to relax and by the end I was stressed again. Will never go back and will tell people not to ever go there.

I have very poor circulation in my legs and consequently, need massages before and after flights. I arrived in Detroit from Los Angeles and needed to get a massage before a longer flight to Amsterdam.



At Massage Envy Spa I was fortunate to have as my massage therapist Mary Ann Zurmuehlen who not only knows how to do some techniques with Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) therapy, but a variety of other massage techniques. She did a combo deep tissue with the MLD, and I walked out with a brand new feeling in my legs. My legs no longer felt heavy and filled with fluid. They felt normal again. I did not experience cramping. Throughout the massage Mary Ann asked how the technique felt if it was too strong or not. Mary Ann also has a soothing and calming spirit about her. If only I lived in the Detroit area, I would certainly be a frequent customer there.



In addition, the spa itself had hushed tones and the atmosphere was calm. Kaitlin Gerding at the front desk was most welcoming and personable which added much to my experience. Kaitlin's professionalism was a breath of fresh air, which distinguishes Massage Envy Spa as a 5 star business. It's a chain business I found out once my session was finished, but chain or not, this franchise store in Northville is top notch.



I do want to mention that I had had massages in both of these locations: Pasadena Langham and the Intercontinental Amstel Amsterdam, both 5 star hotels. While those massage therapists worked in 5 star hotels, their service was not 5 star. The one in Pasadena was about a 3 star, and the one in Amsterdam as about a 1 star.



Save your money and don't visit 5 star hotels worldwide for a fantastic massage. Instead, go to the Massage Envy Spa where you will get a 5 star massage!



Fortunately, I fly through Detroit in July on my way from Amsterdam. I will definitely stop by the Massage Envy Spa for my massage.

Prior to my experience here, I had not heard of Massage Envy Spa. I simply tend to pick the closest massage therapy place to my hotel, if the hotel lacks a spa.
