Dr. Fenton completed his undergraduate studies at UC Santa Cruz in psychology and cognitive neurosciences. He then earned his doctoral degree in clinical psychology with a focus in neuropsychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco (CSPP). At CSPP he developed a multi-component website to reduce stress levels of parents of children with special needs. â?? After graduate school, Dr. Fenton completed a residency in clinical neuropsychology at the Iowa City V.A. Medical Center where his research focused on the behavioral impact of mild traumatic brain injury, while his clinical work involved working with individuals experiencing mild-severe traumatic brain injury, aging/memory disorders, as well as a variety of psychiatric conditions, such as PTSD. â?? Dr. Fenton went on to complete a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychological and rehabilitation at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. While on fellowship, his research focused on memory problems found in individuals diagnosed with Parkinsonâ??s disease, while his clinical work involved working with individuals experiencing different neurological conditions, as well as providing psychotherapy to individuals in subacute conditions. Dr. Fenton has practiced in various settings, including middle/high schools, community mental health centers, skilled nursing facilities, V.A medical centers, major medical centers, and inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. He practices using an ecological systems framework and approaches each client with the understanding that individuals exist in a complex system of relationships affected by different environments; from immediate settings such as family and school, to broad cultural values, laws, and customs. â?? â??Dr. Fenton is passionate about working with individuals experiencing chronic and acute medical conditions, marital and relational conflict, career stress, as well as generally challenging life transitions.
