Steven C. Rose, MD, is a board-certified vascular and interventional radiologist who specializes in treating individuals with inoperable forms of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), other types of liver cancer, and liver metastases. His clinical expertise is in image-guided locoregional therapies, designed to directly kill or starve tumors of oxygen. He performs both transarterial therapies, such as chemoebolization and Yttrium-90 radioembolization, and percutaneous ablative therapies, such as microwave (thermal) ablation. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health in 1994, Dr. Rose was an associate professor in vascular and interventional radiology at UCLA Health, section head in angiography and interventional radiology at Virginia Mason Clinic in Seattle, and a clinical associate professor in the Department of Radiology at University of Washington in Seattle.He completed a fellowship in angiography and interventional radiology and a residency in radiology at University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. He earned his medical degree from University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.
