Based on a second-hand referral, I visited this unassuming shop a few months ago for an estimate to sell my engagement and wedding rings. The primary value is in the diamond solitaire, which Thompsons said was no more than 1/2 carat. The stone was not even examined under magnification to assess the other “c’s” that determine a diamond’s value. I was offered $400 total. Remembering the stone as larger, I declined and left. I called the custom jeweler in another state where the items were purchased, and they sent me the specifications as certified by one of the recognized laboratories. Indeed, that diamond is 0.70 carat. The representative from the jeweler who originally made the rings told me it was a “scam” for a potential buyer to report such a difference in size, that no one who’d been in the industry “at least a month” would make such a mistake. Based on the carat, color, cut and clarity on record, that jeweler advised me not to accept any offer under $1,500. He asked what I’d been offered and used some choice words I’ll not write. While I was not seeking a custom piece or repair from Thompsons with which others have had good experiences, I am dismayed by the flagrant dishonesty. I will not trust them with future patronage.

My wife's 30 year old wedding lost its marquise diamond and a small diamond on the side. I spent a month getting estimates for getting the ring repaired. One of the jewelers i went to for an estimate said that they send all their repair work to Thompson's jewelry. Thompson's estimate was a lot lower than any of the other jewelers. They took the marquise diamond and prongs off of another ring I had to do the repair. The merger of the two rings was a huge success. My wife's wedding ring now has a larger marquise. It is beautiful. The folks a Thompson's gave me great advise to make the ring look great. The prices are the best in town and the quality of work is awesome. Really take pride is their work and care about the customer. I will be back.

I have had two rings made and I love them both! John is so good about listening to what you want, offering suggestions and creating pieces that are unique and beautiful. In addition, the prices were very reasonable and the quality of work could not have been better. Friendly service, great value and timeless pieces of jewelery. What more could you ask? Can't wait for my 3rd piece!
