Last week I went to Lord&Taylor in Stamford, CT. A salesperson talked me into opening a credit card with the store. She needed to see an ID, so I gave her my drivers license.

The next morning I saw that I don't have my driver license, and realized that the salesperson has forgotten to return it to me. I came back to the store as soon as they open, and found the salesperson who opened the card for me. She apologized about forgetting to give my license back, said that she brought it to the lost and found room, and went with me to retrieve the license.

To her and my big surprise, the employee at the lost and found room said that she does not have my license! When we repeatedly questioned her about my license’s whereabouts, she kept repeating “I don't have it”, so I went to the store manager.

The manager went to talk to the lost and found employee, came back in about a minute, told me that my license has been destroyed, and said that he was sorry that her employee has destroyed it too soon.

I spent the next morning and part of the afternoon replacing my driver license at the DMV, filling out a police report at the Stamford Police, and locking my profile through a credit reporting agency.

The next day I told the general manager the whole story. She said that she is sorry, too, that the employee who destroyed my license is very reliable, and that she is sure that the license has been destroyed. To add insult to the injury, she asked her assistant to bring me a $30 gift card to cover the replacement license fees charged at the DMV!

Finally, I called Lord&Taylor corporate in New York, and told them my story. They called me back this afternoon, said that they were sorry, offered me a $50 gift card, got disconnected, and never called me back.

I hope that at this point you get a picture of how horribly they treat their customers at Lord&Taylor. I am not making a mistake of shopping with them again!!
